Princess Polka Dot Lives in Marin                        

        Novato, October 2007:  Royalty of a sort resides in Marin County.  Royalty to children that is.  Marilyn LoRusso has created the persona of Princess Polka Dot.  For over 10 years she has entertained thousands of children.  She has an interesting past, which has culminated into her present passion: MAKING CHILDREN HAPPY!. 

        Marilyn came to California from the east coast in 1980.  She has a master’s degree from Columbia University in Speech and Language Pathology.  She has worked as a Speech Therapist in the San Francisco Public Schools and for the San Francisco Easter Seal Society’s Head Start Program.  She left the Speech profession and moved to Marin.  There she met her husband, Robert, and for 12 years they owned and operated Crystal Chalet, the beautiful crystal shop at the Village at Corte Madera. 

        When Marilyn is not Princess Polka Dot, she can be found teaching Art, Baby Signs, mommy/baby fitness and new parent/baby classes at the Gymboree Play and Music at Strawberry Village in Mill Valley (Marin County).

        On Halloween in 1996 Princess Polka Dot debuted at the Village at Corte Madera.  Over a thousand children gathered for Halloween treats as Princess Polka Dot participated in the holiday spirit.  Princess Polka Dot has been performing ever since.  She delights children with her own upbeat brand of entertainment.  Her performances include magic, songs, games, face painting, balloon art, bubbles, parachute play and more! 

        She has volunteered in the pediatric ward at California Pacific Medical Center, for The Make A Wish Foundation, the Storks of Marin General Hospital, the New Beginnings Homeless Center and other Marin organizations.  She has performed at a Children’s Safety Fair sponsored by Kids One Inc., at Gymboree Play Program parties, at many preschools, home birthday parties, weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, store openings, and company picnics.
